How to Burn Incense Resin With Intention and Control

Learning how to use resin incense with intention and control enhances the abilities of high-frequency resins, allowing them to work better for you.

Resins have a much deeper impact in clearing than sage because they are the sap, or the life force, of the high-frequency trees. In contrast, sage consists of dried, crispy leaves from a bush

Starting With the Right Mindset for Burning Resin Incense

When we begin with a clear and coherent intention—what is your goal? Before we burn resins, it guides their energies to become more helpful to us. It will help amplify the results.

This technique applies to anything we want to achieve. The power of belief, the power of the mind, is pure energy, and energy has no boundaries

What Is Resin Incense?

Resins are the lifeblood of a tree. They are the sap that nourishes and gives life to the tree. All trees carry energetic frequencies, and some trees have particularly high vibrational frequencies.

For example, frankincense, myrrh, copal, and dragon’s blood are some of these high-frequency trees. There are other high-frequency trees as well, and these are just a few examples.

I’m not a big fan of incense sticks because they often contain chemical binders that become airborne contaminants. They do work, but I also find they are less potent than burning pure resins.

In my search for a truly high-frequency resin, I ended up creating my own blend of high-power Ancient Resin Clearing Blend resin, which I offer in my site store.

Why Resin Incense Requires a Lighter Hand

When people burn sage, they often have to wave it around energetically.

In contrast, working with resins involves slow, deliberate movements to fill and cleanse your space.

What You Need To Get Started Safely

Always open a window or a door, as that symbolically removes the negative and heavy energies from your space. If you can find an electric resin burner, that is your best option. There is no flame, and the heat source is contained within the resin burner.

One thing I like to do to my incense burner is to line it with aluminum foil to make it easier to clean. ☺

If you can’t get a resin burner, you can light a charcoal disc and, using tongs, place it on a safe surface, then add the resins.

How to Burn Resin Incense Step by Step

This step-by-step process is designed to help you learn how to burn resins. Before you begin, open a door or window and check to make sure you have enough air circulation so you don’t set off any smoke detectors.

In my book, Battle with the Darkside: My Journey From Teacher to Exorcist, I share a funny story about how I almost burned my house down.

#1) Decide the Purpose of This Burn

When burning resins, first set your intention. Are you removing heavy energies? Are you seeking clarity?

Whatever your intentions are, focus them on the resins.

#2) Prepare a Stable, Heat-Safe Setup

Ok, so if I can avoid cleaning something, I will. When I use a charcoal round to burn resins, I will get a Pyrex measuring cup with a handle on it. I line it with aluminum foil.

#3) Light Charcoal and Let It Fully Heat

If you are using charcoals, there are some that come with self-starting components and they light faster. Using tongs, place the charcoal around the heat source. It will start to turn grey.

When it is about 40% grey, place it on the heat-resistant surface you prepared.

#4) Add a Small Amount of Resin

Add a small amount of the resin, typically a few grams or ¼ teaspoon, is sufficient.

#5) Adjust Smoke and Heat as It Burns

If you’re using a Pyrex measuring cup and can safely walk around with it, go ahead.

If you notice you’re producing too much smoke, open more windows or take it outside.

How Long to Let Resin Incense Burn

The resins will burn until they are gone or until you turn off the heat source.

If you have an electric resin burner, you can easily turn it on and off.

How to Tell When the Resin Has Done Its Job

The first time I burned resins, I could literally see a flood of lower realm entities leave. It was an experience I would never forget.

Many times, the space you clear will feel lighter and brighter afterward.

Common Mistakes That Overload the Space

There isn’t much that will overload your space except for too much smoke or if the smoke becomes overwhelming.

Clearing and Closing the Space After Burning Resin

Intentional resin burning is highly effective for ongoing energetic hygiene, but there are times when even careful, conscious clearing does not fully resolve what is present in a space.

When a home continues to feel heavy, disrupted, or unstable despite consistent resin work, it often means the issue is embedded in the environment’s energetic structure or history. This is exactly when my House Clearing services become necessary.

In these sessions, I work directly with the space to identify and remove lingering entities, unresolved attachments, and weak points that allow interference to return, addressing what personal tools cannot reach on their own.

When intentional resin practices are paired with a thorough energetic space clearing of the home itself, the result is not temporary relief, but a stable, protected environment that no longer needs constant management and can truly support clarity, rest, and well-being.
